Oil and gas operations place demanding requirements on sealing materials and components. Equipment used in drilling, production, transportation, and refining may encounter pressure changes, aggressive chemicals, temperature swings, hydrocarbons, and continuous service. Pneu-Draulics Inc. supplies engineered sealing solutions for upstream, midstream, and downstream applications, with technical guidance for material selection and application-specific requirements.

Our capabilities include high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) seals, rapid gas decompression (RGD) resistant materials, API-focused sealing components, custom O-rings, and high-performance elastomers such as HNBR, FKM, and FFKM perfluoroelastomer. As a certified Parker Products supplier and Parker Hannifin Seal Group distributor, Pneu-Draulics also gives customers access to specialized Parker compounds for demanding chemical and thermal environments.

Our High-Pressure, High-Temperature (HPHT) Sealing Solutions

Oilfield sealing systems can experience rapid pressure changes that place substantial stress on conventional elastomers. In gas service, permeated gas can expand within the seal material during decompression. This may contribute to internal cracking, blistering, or seal damage when the compound is not suited to the application.

Pneu-Draulics supplies explosive decompression-resistant sealing materials engineered for rapid gas decompression conditions. Its material selection support can address operating pressure, temperature, fluid exposure, seal geometry, and applicable customer or industry specifications.

Pneu-Draulics supports applications associated with NACE TM0297, NORSOK M-710, ISO 23936-2, API 6A, and API 16A requirements where the selected component and material are appropriate. These applications can include wellhead equipment, blowout preventers, valves, and other high-pressure oilfield systems.

With warehouse support for Gulf Coast customers and nationwide shipping capability, Pneu-Draulics can help OEM and MRO teams source replacement seals for both planned maintenance and urgent requirements.

Advanced Materials: HNBR, FKM, and FFKM for Harsh Environments

Seal life depends heavily on matching the elastomer to the actual fluid, pressure, temperature, and decompression conditions. Pneu-Draulics supplies several material families used in oil and gas equipment.

  • HNBR — Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene Rubber. HNBR is commonly selected for downhole and oilfield applications because of its resistance to heat, petroleum fluids, sour-gas environments, and mechanical stress.
  • FKM — Fluoroelastomer. FKM resists fuels, oils, aromatic hydrocarbons, and many aggressive chemicals. It is commonly considered for refinery equipment, valves, pumps, and petrochemical processing.
  • FFKM — Perfluoroelastomer. FFKM is intended for applications where conventional elastomers cannot meet the combined chemical and temperature requirements. Pneu-Draulics supplies Parker FFKM compounds for severe operating environments, including Parker FF504-80 and FF252-75.

Parker FF504-80 FFKM for Oil & Gas and Aggressive Chemical Service

For oil and gas applications, Parker FF504-80 is the more directly applicable of Pneu-Draulics’ new FFKM compounds. Parker describes FF504-80 as a green, 80 Shore A perfluorinated elastomer designed for severe chemical and thermal environments. It has a maximum operating temperature of 275 °C (527 °F) and compatibility with aggressive media such as bases, amines, steam, ethylene oxide, acids, and other chemicals.

Parker specifically identifies Exploration and Production of Oil and Gas, chemical processing, paint spray systems, and broader industrial service as target applications for FF504-80. This makes the compound relevant when oilfield equipment requires both high-temperature stability and broad chemical resistance.

Parker FF252-75 FFKM for Extreme-Temperature Applications

Pneu-Draulics also supplies Parker FF252-75, a black, 75-durometer FFKM compound developed for demanding high-temperature fluid service. Parker lists a recommended temperature range of 5 to 608 °F (-15 to 320 °C), along with low compression set and resistance to a broad spectrum of fluid chemistries.

FF252-75 is specifically AMS 7257 QPL listed and was developed for aerospace engine oil, fuel, and hydraulic environments. For oil and gas customers, this compound represents another high-performance FFKM option available through Pneu-Draulics, but engineers should select it based on the actual media, temperature, and specification requirements of the oilfield application rather than its aerospace qualification alone.

Our Design, Manufacturing, Kitting, and Packaging Capabilities

Since 1982, Pneu-Draulics has supported OEM, MRO, and industrial customers with standard and custom sealing products. The company works with customers on material selection, seal profiles, groove-design considerations, and sealing requirements for demanding equipment.

Value-added capabilities include:

  • Custom seal kitting. Kits can organize application-specific replacement components for MRO and field-service teams.
  • Custom packaging and labeling. Parts can be packaged around customer numbering, labeling, and documentation requirements.
  • Non-standard seal profiles. Pneu-Draulics supports machined and custom sealing geometries when catalog components do not fit the application.
  • Material selection support. Engineers can evaluate HNBR, FKM, FFKM, PTFE, and other seal materials around operating conditions.
  • Parker product access. Pneu-Draulics supplies Parker sealing products and specialized compounds, including FF504-80 and FF252-75.

As an ISO 9001:2015 certified company and Parker Hannifin Seal Group distributor, Pneu-Draulics supports customers that require material traceability, specification review, and quality documentation.

Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream Sealing Applications

Different stages of oil and gas production place different demands on sealing components.

Upstream equipment can expose seals to elevated pressure, temperature, hydrocarbons, drilling fluids, and rapid decompression. Applications include mud motors, production packers, wellhead assemblies, subsea components, and related drilling equipment. RGD-resistant HNBR, FKM, or FFKM compounds may be considered according to the media and operating envelope.

Midstream equipment relies on sealing components in compressors, pumps, valves, and pipeline infrastructure. Material compatibility becomes important where seals encounter hydrocarbons, gases, pressure cycling, and changing ambient conditions.

Downstream refining and petrochemical systems may expose seals to aggressive process chemicals and elevated temperatures. FKM and FFKM compounds such as Parker FF504-80 can be considered where chemical resistance exceeds the capabilities of more conventional elastomers. Parker’s FF504-80 is especially relevant to these environments because of its documented resistance to acids, bases, amines, steam, and other aggressive media.

Pneu-Draulics supports these applications with standard O-rings, custom seal profiles, Parker sealing products, kitting, and application-specific material guidance.

Reliable FFKM and Oil & Gas Sealing Support

Pneu-Draulics combines decades of sealing experience with access to HNBR, FKM, FFKM (perfluoroelastomer), and other materials for use in challenging oil and gas environments. Parker FF504-80 expands the available FFKM options for exploration and production, refining, chemical exposure, and high-temperature service, while FF252-75 adds another extreme-temperature FFKM option for applications that meet its published material properties.

From HPHT and RGD-resistant seals to custom kitting and compound selection, Pneu-Draulics can help OEM and MRO teams identify sealing materials around pressure, temperature, media, and specification requirements.
